Dr Sacha

SACHA REALISED THAT THE ACT MODEL WAS THE BEST WAY TO TEACH PEOPLE RESILIENCE SKILLS.

Dr Sacha Rombouts created six heroes to represent each of the six ACT components. Sacha is a Clinical Psychologist trained to help build resilience in children and families. When completing his training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Sacha realised that the ACT model was the best way to teach people resilience skills.

So he found an awesome artist (Gabe Rose) and created the Action Heroes. He wanted to create something that would teach children the powers of resilience in a fun and engaging way, but also wanted it to be so visually appealing that it could extend from the therapy room to our broader society.

As the Founder of Happy Minds Australia, Sacha has designed the Action Heroes to teach children the ACT concepts. In addition to the resources he created, Dr Sacha also provides workshops for families and school students as well as professional development training for clinicians and school personnel. These workshops can be face-to-face or online using webinar technology.

Sacha's Origin Story... Every hero has one!

Sacha obtained his Bachelor of Psychology with first class Honours in 1998. He has since obtained his PhD in forensic psychology and is currently a member of the Clinical College in the Australian Psychological Society. He also holds Clinical Psychology Endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia. Sacha is currently the President of the ACBS Special Interest Group for Children, Youth and Families.

Sacha has extensive clinical experience working with families, youth, and adults across a variety of settings. Sacha has lectured at Griffith University and travelled to Africa to train non-government organisations (NGOs) to facilitate trauma rehabilitation programs in refugee camps. Sacha also has extensive experience running resilience building programs in individual and group settings and he is able to connect with people of all ages.
